Florida Family Law Attorney - Leonard Ross, his Associates and Staff

Leonard Ross Attorney at LawLeonard R. Ross has more than two decades of experience resolving family law issues for clients in the state of Florida. Mr. Ross has achieved distinction as a Board Certified Family Law Specialist in the State of Florida for his knowledge, ability and ethical standards. Board Certification is the highest level of evaluation by The Florida Bar of the competency and experience of attorneys in the areas of law approved for certification by the Supreme Court of Florida.

Mr. Ross graduated with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1981 from Vermont Law School. Mr. Ross is a published author and served as an editor for the prestigious Vermont Law Review.

In addition, Mr. Ross drafted proposed legislation, clerked for a trial Judge, the Vermont Supreme Court, and the United States Attorney’s office. Mr. Ross received a Bachelors of Science degree in Administration of Justice from The American University in Washington D.C. in 1978. Mr. Ross received certification in the areas of life and variable annuity insurance following studies through the University of Florida.

Prior to practicing law, Mr. Ross was employed as a licensed private investigator in the State of Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland and Massachusetts. In addition, Mr. Ross was licensed by the Department of Insurance in the area of life and variable annuity insurance following a course of studies at the University of Florida.

Mr. Ross has provided guidance to young people in public and private schools throughout Florida's school system through mentoring, lectures and instruction. In addition, he has served as a long- time youth basketball coach for both girls and boys in competitive leagues throughout Florida. Mr. Ross was President and an award- winning player for the four-time State Championship Daytona Beach Rugby Team.

George D. E. Burden - Partner

George Burden is a partner in the Law Firm of Ross & Burden. He has been in private practice since 1990 with a concentration in the areas of Elder Law, Government Relations and Immigration Law. In addition he is an attorney for the State Capital Appeals Division representing death row inmates before the Florida Supreme Court and United States Supreme Court.

During the 2000 Florida Presidential Election, Mr. Burden appeared as lead counsel for President George W. Bush before the Volusia County Election Canvassing Board.

Elected and Appointed Government Service:

Currently Mr. Burden is a member of the Daytona Beach Race & Recreation Authority. Having been appointed by Governor Crist, he just began a four year term on the Judicial Nominating Committee. From 1995-2003, Mr. Burden served as a City Commissioner for the city of Daytona Beach. He was elected four times as the State Committeeman for the Republican Party of Florida and served Volusia County for twelve (12) years in this position.

He has been a member of the Daytona Beach Housing Authority, Chairman of the Board of the Anti-Recidivist Effort (a non profit corporation dedicated to fighting substance abuse), co-sponsor of the return of the Central Florida Community Development Corporation (CFCDC) to Daytona Beach, and Chairman of the Volusia County Water Alliance which created the inter-local agreement now known as WAV (Water Authority of Volusia County).

Military Service:

Captain George Burden is especially proud of his years in the United States Air Force as an Intelligence Officer. He began his career as a Soviet Area Specialist which included special duty in the Middle East during the Iran/Iraq War. After returning from the Middle East he was assigned tours of duty in Latin America where he helped manage intelligence operations in Nicaragua, El Salvador, Columbia and the Republic of Panama. For his involvement in operations targeting the drug cartels he was awarded a Meritorious Unit Citation. In 1986 he was selected for the CIA Exceptional Analyst Program and was later sent to El Salvador to study guerrilla warfare. This expertise was used in his last overseas tour during the invasion of Panama.

Sara E. Glover - Associate

picture of Sara GloverMs. Glover is from Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her Undergraduate Degree in Political Science from Auburn University. While attending Auburn, Ms Glover Alpha Chi Omega and held several leadership positions within the Sorority. Ms. Glover attended Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida on a merit-based scholarship. She earned her Juris Doctorate Degree and a Certification in Family Law from Florida Coastal School of Law.

 

Sue Mary Landers Burcham - Legal Assistant/Office Manager

picture of GeorgeSusan Mary Landers Burcham moved to Florida after graduating from the Franciscan Academy in Syracuse, New York. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor's Degree. She is a Notary. She is married with two (2) adult children. Mrs. Burcham has been employed with the firm since 1986 as Legal Assistant to Leonard R. Ross and Office Manager. Mrs. Burcham has been recognized by the City of Holly Hill for her voluntary efforts in chairing the City's beautification board for four (4) years.

Jeanne Burden graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Florida. She subsequently received a Master's Degree in English from Nova Southeastern University. While a teacher in the Volusia County Schools she was named "Teacher Of The Year"

Julie was raised in the Daytona Beach area and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Spruce Creek High School's International Baccalaureate Program. While in High School she was dually enrolled at Daytona Beach Community College. She attended the University of Florida in Gainsville, Florida.
